Postdoctoral Position at NIST (USA)

Forums:

A new postdoctoral/guest researcher position is available in the Material Measurement Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD. The project seeks to identify compositionally complex high entropy alloys for thermoelectric applications. It combines machine learning, combinatorial film synthesis, and high throughput chemical and physical transport property characterization. The project is 1-3 years (pending continued funding). The primary objectives of the research position are strongly instrumentation focused: a new temperature dependent thermal effusivity measurement tool for composition spread films will be designed and commissioned; electrical transport properties (resistivity, Seebeck coefficient) will also be measured using our custom instrumentation. A successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in Physics, Material Science, Chemistry, or related disciplines with demonstrated practical expertise in optical and other transport property measurements, laboratory instrumentation design, LabVIEW programming, and data/uncertainty analysis. The applicant should possess a strong and consistent publication record. Applicants should contact Dr. Joshua Martin (joshua.martin@nist.gov) for more details and to submit their CV.
