A research associate position is available at MSU to work on developing methods to grow and characterize bulk single crystals of intermetallic phases including pnictides and chalcogenides with either layered or 1D crystal structures. The work is part of a broader effort with the following goals:
1) understanding the impact of in-plane and out-of-plane bond strength on lattice dynamics and thermal transport in layered materials
2) investigating anisotropic electronic and thermal transport properties in Zintl phases with 1D and 2D anionic structures.
