Mr. Wei Liu Wins the 2012 ITS Goldsmid Award

Mr. Liu from the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology, China has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 International Thermoelectric Society Goldsmid Award. The award, generously sponsored in part by Marlow Industries, will be given to Mr. Liu during the award ceremony at the ICT 2012 banquet in Aalborg, Denmark.

Mr. Liu received his BS and MS degrees in Materials Science from the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing in Wuhan University of Technology, China in 2006 and 2009, respectively.  Mr. Liu is currently conducting is PhD research in China at the High performance Thermoelectric Materials Laboratory, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Technology for Materials Synthesis and Processing, Wuhan University of Technology. Mr. Liu is expecting to finish his Ph.D. in 2012.

Mr. Liu's outstanding contributions have been documented in a number of journal publications mainly on Mg2Si1-xSnx alloys. His curriculum vitae can be found below.

A total of two candidates competed for the award this year. In addition to Mr. Liu, the other candidate was:

  • Roman Dekhtaryuk, Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration, Ukraine
