Thermoelectric materials for sustainable development (MRS-J / A-MRS Bilateral Symposium)
All colleagues working on thermoelectrics all over the world are warmly invited to join this symposium. It will follow the thermoelectric symposia successfully organized at IUMRS-ICAM 2015 (Jeju, Korea) IUMRS-ICAM 2017 (Kyoto, Japan), IUMRS-ICEM 2018 (Daejeon, Korea).
Description of topical focus:
Thermoelectricity is a well-known phenomenon enabling the conversion of heat into electric energy without moving parts. Its exploitation has been widely considered to contribute to the increasing need for energy along with the concerns about the environmental impact of traditional fossil energy sources. In the last few years, significant improvements in the performance of thermoelectric materials have been achieved through chemical doping, solid solution formation and nanoengineering approaches. Furthermore, feasibility of flexible, stretchable, and conformable thermoelectric harvesters was demonstrated and attracted the interest of wide audience. However, the path for practical applications of thermoelectrics appears still long. This symposium aims to bridge the gap between materials science and applications of thermoelectric materials.
This symposium will be organized in junction between MRS-J and A-MRS and will be endorsed by THO (Team Harmonised Oxides) Japan. Further details and list of invited speakers will be disclosed in conference web site.
Symposium Topics:
