Venue
ECT2008 will take place in the center of Paris, at the "Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Paris (ENSCP)", 11, rue Pierre et Marie Curie, 75005 Paris. ENSCP is situated within the Latin Quarter between the Luxembourg Garden ("Jardin du Luxembourg") and the "Pantheon".

A taxi fare to the conference site costs ~50 eur. from "Charles de Gaulle" and ~30 eur. from "Orly".
Travel by train
All the Paris train stations are connected to the subway ("Metro") network. A map can be found here.
Travel by car
Every highways and main roads reaching Paris are connected to a a highway circling around the city, named "Boulevard périphérique". From there, several options are possible. The simplest option is to circle around on "Boulevard périphérique" in any direction and exit at "Porte d'Orléans". From there a detailed route plan can be found here. A paying parking close to the conference site (ENSCP, 11, rue Pierre et Marie Curie) can be found "Rue Soufflot"; a map relative to the conference site can be found here.
City of Paris
The "most beautiful city in the world" does not need to be introduced. However, interesting details on Paris can be found on the WEB site "Les Pages de Paris": http://www.paris.org/ . You will find Subway, Buses, RER (fast local train) maps as well as Museums, Monuments, running exhibitions, hotels (if you don't like those proposed in the section "Hotel and Tourism" of this site). From the section "Monuments" at the letter L you will find "Gardens and Palace of Luxembourg" http://www.paris.org/Monuments/Luxembourg/ and even closer from ENSCP, the Pantheon http://www.paris.org/Monuments/Pantheon/ .
As Paris is an ancient city (previously called Lutèce) a few "gallo-roman" ruins subsist such the " Lutèce Arena " http://www.paris.org/Monuments/Arenes/ and the " Cluny Thermal baths" with a museum http://www.musee-moyenage.fr/ang/homes/home_id20392_u1l2.htm both at a walking distance from the confrence venue. The University of Paris is one of the oldest inFrance which became famous right from the Middle Age and it is possible to walk from ENSCP to the "Sorbonne" via the "Boulevard Saint Michel".
