Freiburg Concert Hall

ICT2009 will be held in the Concert Hall of Freiburg(Konzerthaus).

The Concert Hall of Freiburg (Konzerthaus) is Freiburg’s most prominent location for concerts, exhibitions, national and international congresses. It is situated just opposite the main station. The old city of Freiburg is within walking distance. Most of the congress participants are accommodated in the adjacent 4 star Novotel hotel with direct access to the Concert Hall.

How to get there

The city of Freiburg is situated in Southern Germany near the border triangle of France, Switzerland and Germany. There are several airports which can be easily reached by train or shuttle bus. With its ICE train station and easy connection to the A5 motorway Freiburg can also be reached comfortably by car and train.

Freiburg by car

Driving on the Rhine Valley Motorway A5 Frankfurt to Basel leave the autobahn at exit „Freiburg-Mitte“ and follow “Freiburg/Titisee-Neustadt”. You are now driving on the B31 freeway, leading you directly to the city centre of Freiburg. Follow “Stadtmitte” (city centre) or “Hauptbahnhof” (main station), the route to Freiburg Concert Hall (Konzerthaus Freiburg) is signposted. It takes a 10 minutes drive from the autobahn exit to the Concert Hall.

If you approach Freiburg from A81 Stuttgart to Singen or on the B31 (going through the Höllental valley), Donaueschingen, Titisee-Neustadt, you will reach Freiburg on the road called “Schwarzwaldstrasse”. Follow the road which leads towards the motorway A5, then take the exit “Merzhausen/Hauptbahnhof” (”Merzhausen/main station”). The route to the Concert Hall (“Konzerthaus”) is signposted.

950 parking spaces are available in the Concert Hall building and in an underground car park of the main station.

Freiburg by train

Freiburg is on the ICE route Frankfurt – Karlsruhe – Freiburg – Basel.
Travel time (approx.):
Freiburg - Stuttgart: 2 hours
Freiburg - Frankfurt/Main: 2 hours
Freiburg - Cologne: 3 hours
Freiburg – Basel: 0,5 hours
Freiburg – Paris: 4 hours

Validation:
This offer is only available in connection with the confirmation of registration. Should the passenger rapidly take another train instead of the reserved/booked one, a new reservation is necessary. By change/refund up to the first day of validity 15 € will be payable, from the 1st day after validity a change/refund is impossible.

 

Period of validation
The ticket for the congress is available for your round trip between 23 July and 03 August 2009, irrespective your departure station to Freiburg and backwards.

Tickets for the participants are only available under following hotline: 01805 – 31 11 53 in connection with the keyword „INTERPLAN“.

The hotline is occupied from Monday until Saturday from 8am until 9pm. Each telephone call costs 14 cents/minute.

Freiburg by plane 

Freiburg can be reached via a number of airports:
  • Frankfurt Airport

Approximately 270 km from Freiburg but with a direct ICE connection from Freiburg main station to Frankfurt Airport with direct access to the terminal. The traveling time is approx. 2 hours.

  •  Airport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (EuroAirport)

The EuroAirport is only 60 km away. It covers international scheduled and charter flights.

It can be reached from Freiburg direct by the Airport Bus from the “Freiburger Reisedienst” (“travel service of Freiburg”), which leaves at the airport exit for France (=“Frankreich”). You do not need a reservation for less than 5 persons. Trains commute from Basel railway station to Freiburg. You can also reach the airport by car via the A5 Motorway towards Basel, then via the Motorway Junction Neuenburg via Ottmarsheim/Mulhouse on the A35 or shortly before the Motorway Customs Point via the Palmrheinbruecke, Huningue and St. Louis.

  • Strasbourg Airport (Aèroport International Strasbourg)

The Aèroport International Strasbourg is located approximately 60 km away from Freiburg just south of Strasbourg (near Entzheim). It can be reached by public transport taking the train to Strasbourg (via Offenburg and Kehl). From there, there are several possibilities of getting to the airport – by bus, tram or regional train. You can travel to the airport by car via the A5 Motorway and national roads in France.

  • Airport Karlsruhe-Baden (Baden-Airpark)

Baden-Airpark is located 100 km north of Freiburg between Baden-Baden and Karlsruhe. The airport can be reached by public transport by train from Freiburg to Baden-Baden, Rastatt or Karlsruhe and then further by bus or as a direct bus connection by shuttle bus from Freiburg. It can be reached by car via the A5 Motorway (Baden-Baden exit).

  • Zürich Airport

Approximately 150 km from Freiburg, the airport can be easily reached by train with a direct ICE connection from Freiburg Main Station to Zurich Main Station and then by regional train to the airport. You can also reach the airport by car via the A5 Motorway to Basel and then on the A3 to Zurich.

  • Stuttgart Airport

Approximately 200 km from Freiburg the airport can be easily reached by train from the main station in Freiburg via Karlsruhe to Stuttgart main station. There is a connection by suburban train to the airport. You can reach the airport by car via the A5 and A8 motorways.

Public Transport in Freiburg

The Concert Hall in Freiburg is connected to public transport. The stops for the trams are located on the bridge besides the main rail station in direct vicinity of the Freiburg Concert Hall.
