INFORMATION ABOUT THE HOTEL TAX IN DRESDEN

Starting July 1st, 2015, a new Hotel tax will be charged in all hotels and hostels of Dresden

For accommodation costs less than € 30.00 the tax amounts to € 1.00,
€ 30.00 to € 59.99: € 3.00,
€ 60.00 to € 89.99: € 5.00,
€ 90.00 to € 119.99: € 7.00
and so on, whereby the tax rate increases by € 2.00 for every increase in the range of values by € 30.00.

For participants of the 34th Annual International Conference on Thermoelectrics and 13th European Conference on Thermoelectrics the City of Dresden has granted an exemption from the Hotel tax until July 4 (check out) for the following official conference hotels and hostels:

• Gästehaus Max-Planck-Institut für Physik komplexer Systeme Dresden
• Hotel Bayerischer Hof
• Hotel Elbflorenz
• Hotel Motel One Am Zwinger
• Ibis Hotels Königstein, Lilienstein, Bastei
• Innside by Melia Hotel
• InterCity Hotel
• Internationales Gästehaus der TU Dresden
• L Hotel Dresden Altstadt
• Maritim Hotel
• The Westin Bellevue

If you are staying in one of these hotels or hostels, you have to present your registration confirmation or your badge only and fill out the registration form of the hotel/hostel at check in or at least before you pay - the earlier the better.

If you don´t stay in the above mentioned hotels you find a copy of the official exemption from the Hotel tax (in German only) in your conference bag. You have to present this document together with your registration confirmation or your badge and fill out the registration form of the hotel/hostel at check in or at least before you pay - the earlier the better.
In general the hotel will exempt you from the Hotel tax.
Pls. note: the hotel is not obliged to do so!
If you have to pay the Hotel tax, you can request a refund informally by the City of Dresden, Steuer- und Stadtkassenamt enclosing a copy of the official exemption from the Hotel tax, your registration confirmation and your hotel bill.

Pls. note: Exemptions from the hotel tax are for participants of the conference, only! Accompanying Partners and other persons not participating in the conference have to pay the Hotel tax!

The Hotel tax will be calculated based on the total room rate for the entire stay.

Dresden offers a wide variety of hotel accommodation in all categories. A large number of hotel rooms at different rates have been blocked for the time of the conference. The hotels are located in the vicinity of the conference venue in the city center of Dresden and are easily accessible by public transportation or even within walking distance. Detailed information is given below.

Maritim Hotel Dresden (Official Congress Hall)

This 4-star hotel MARITIM Dresden is located between the Semper Opera House and International Congress Center directly on the banks of the river Elbe. It has all amenities you can expect from a first-class-hotel. The 328 hotel rooms have a minimum size of 29 m², all feature a safe with laptop charger. Hotel guests can use the Maritim Dresden's 450 m² spa area for free, with swimming pool, sauna and steam room. From the conservatory restaurant you have views of the Elbe and city center. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Old Town and famous Frauenkirche church. The pathway along the Elbe is also popular with hikers and cyclists.

Ibis Hotel Königstein Dresden

• Walking distance to the congress venue: 1,6 km
• You can walk along the pedestrian area to the river Elbe and from there along the river to the Congress Center, it takes around 20 minutes.
• Or you can use the tram Nb. 11 (station 5 minutes by foot) directly to the Congress Center(10 minutes).

• Double room: € 110,00

The 3-star hotel Ibis Königstein Dresden is located only 500 meters from Dresden Main Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town district. The hotel offers 306 air-conditioned rooms and a 24-hour bar. Renovated in 2011, the classic-style rooms at the hotel feature satellite TV and a private bathroom. Wired internet is available in all rooms, and Wi-Fi in the lobby. The restaurant serves a rich breakfast buffet and a selection of German and international cuisine as well as Saxon specialities. The hotel lies in the Prager Straße shopping street, with good tram and bus connections.
