Professor Lidong Chen is the director of the State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructures at the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS). He is the President of the Asia Association of Thermoelectrics and the Co-Editor-in-Chief of npj Computational Materials. Professor Chen’s research interest focuses on developing advanced thermoelectric (TE) materials and devices via a coordinated experiment with theory approach. In the past decade, he has succeeded in exploring, optimizing, and discovery of a wide variety of high performance TE materials, such as the double- and multiple-filled skutterudites, TE nano-composites, Cu-based ionic-conductor TE compounds, organic/inorganic TE composite films, etc. In addition, Prof. Chen pioneered the development of advanced TE devices using these high performance TE materials, reaching high energy conversion efficiency values. Prof. Chen has more than 200 peer-reviewed papers published in the leading scientific journals, more than 50 granted patents, and 40 plenary and invited talks at international conferences, to his credit.
