2004 General Session of the International Academy of
Refrigeration
The General Session of the International Academy of Refrigeration (IAR) was
held in St. Petersburg, Russia on April 20-21, 2004.
The program of the Session includes:
| Report of the President of the Academy Alexander Baranenko. |
| Report of the Auditing committee. |
| Information about the 21st International Congress of
Refrigeration (Washington, DC, August, 2003) and about the World Climate
Change Conference (Moscow, September, 2003). |
| Reports of the National and the Regional Departments of the IAR. |
| Presentations of new corporative members of the Academy. |
| Election of new individual members of the Academy. |
| Scientific academically conference. |
The main plenary rewires that were presented at the Conference are as
follows:
- "Protection of the ozone layer and the problem of stage-by-stage
reduction of consumption the ozone-destroying refrigerants’, by V.
Tselikov.
- "Low temperature conservation of cellular and tissue transplants:
achievements and prospects of development" by Sh. Bagutdinov.
- "Biotechnology of food additives" by T. Nikiforova.
- "Rocket engines on cryogenic components of fuel. Modern state and
prospects" by M.Pen’kov.
- "Solid-state microcoolers" by L.Bulat. (The modern achievements
and prospects of thermoelectric and thermionic microcoolers were discussed
in the lecture).
Today the Academy enrolls 1076 individual members: 472 academicians, 468
corresponding members and 66 academic advisers. More than 170 corporative
members are included in the Academy.
The Academy holds Annual General Meetings.
The official scientific and technical journal of the Academy is
"Bulletin of the IAR". The IAR is one of the founders of the journals
"Refrigeration Engineering" and "Refrigeration Business"
(both in Russian).
15 Sections on different directions of science and engineering are presented
in the Academy. The Section for Alternative Methods of Refrigeration (SAMR) is
one of the IAR Sections. Thermoelectric, thermionic and others non-traditional
methods of refrigeration are the target of activity of the Section.
There are 22 individual members in the SAMR; the list is attached. The list
of corporative members of the SAMR is also attached.
