INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF REFRIGERATION

The International Academy of Refrigeration (IAR) is a self-governing organization which combines the effort of scientists and engineers to solve fundamental and applied problems confronted by refrigerating and low temperature engineering, air conditioning, food storage and processing, equipment and apparatus in food manufacture, including issues of ecology, economics, specialist education and personnel restraining.

The IAR is officially registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation (Certificate No. 2725) on May 22, 1995 and qualified as the transferer of the Academy of Refrigeration established in Russia in June, 1993.

In accordance with the Regulations, the IAR activity is accomlpisphed through the national affiliates of member-states. At the present time there exist the Russian and the Ukrainian national departments. The Russian department involve ten regional branches in:

St.Petersburg, Moscow, Astrakhan, Voronezh, Krasnoyarsk (the Eastern Siberian branch), Kaliningrad (the Western branch), Kemerovo (the Cuzbass), Makhachkala (the Northern Caucasian), Omsk (the Siberian), Kazan (the Tatarian branch). The leading scientists and specialists from Bulgaria, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan are acting in the International Academy of Refrigeration. The Academy numbers 300 doctors and candidates of sciences (D.Sc. and Ph.D), over a hundred of organizers and leaders of enterprises, who have made valuable contributions to world science and engineering in the field of low temperatures and food processing.

The International Academy of Refrigeration cooperates with:

large-scale enterprises, joint-stock companies and firms, viz:
COMPRESSOR, CRYOCOR, TURBKHOLOD, (Moscow, Russia), ROSMYASOMOLTORG (Moscow and St.Petersburg, Russia), LENTRANSGAS, RAO GAZPROM, SIGMA-GAZ, AO COMPRESSOR, PETMOL (St.Petersburg, Russia), BELKOZIN (Leningrad region, Russia), KAZANCOMPRESSORMASH, NIITURBOCOMPRESSOR (Kazan, Russia), KHOLODMASH (Cherkessk, Russia), KOMPRESSORNIY ZAVOD (Krasnodar, Russia), SIBCRIOTEKHNIKA (Omsk, Russia), ALTAYMYASOPROM (Kemerovo, Russia); INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF REFRIGERATION; PLANORA OY, EAST REF, FINREILA OY, AGA PORKKA (Finland); TRACOSA (Belgium); COGIL (Italy); MARFLEX (Holland); SPIRAX SARGO (Britain); INTER SHELF (USA); ALFA-LAVAL (Sweden); TETRA PACK HOYER (Germany); GOLD STAR (Southern Korea) and others;
leading educational institutions and scientific organizations such as
Moscow Bauman State Technical University, Moscow Energy Institute, St.Petersburg State Academy of Refrigeration and Food Technologies, VNIIKHOLODMASH, CRYOGENMASH, GELIIMASH, VNIKNI (Russia); University of Utrecht (Holland); Oulu and Lappeehranta Universities (Finland); Sofia and Plovdiv Universities (Bulgaria); Odessa Academy of Refrigeration, Academy of Food Technology (Ukraine) and others.

To realize its scientific and practical interests, the IAR has formed 16 sections according to the number of the most important scientific-engineering trends. Materials about the International Academy of Refrigeration activity are published in the journals "Refrigerating Technic" (Moscow) and "Business of Refrigeration" (Moscow).

The supreme organ of the IAR is the General Session of the Academy that is held once or twice a year. The General Session qualifies applicants as individual members on a competitive basis and endorses collective members.

To become a collective member of the International Academy of Refrigeration it is necessary to forward to the Secretariat:

  1. an application of the head of the enterprise;
  2. a brief reference of the enterprise.

To become an individual member of the IAR it is necessary to forward:

  1. an application that point a section of the IAR;

  4. a petition on promoting the applicant to be a member of the Academy (the right to promote is enjoyed by the national and region affiliates of the IAR, enterprises and organizations - collective members of the IAR, educational and scientific institutions). As a rule, an enterprise (organization) joins the IAR as a collective member at first, and then this enterprise gives a petition on promoting the individual applicant(s) - head or specialist(s) of this enterprise.
