Goldsmid Award
The International Thermoelectric Society and Marlow
Industries, Inc. announces the Goldsmid Award for
Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a Graduate Student.
2001 Goldsmid Award
Mr. Xiaofeng Fan was the recipient of
the 2001 Goldsmid Award for Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a
Graduate Student. Mr. Xiaofeng Fan has conducted some very challenging
research, both theoretical and experimental, in the area of thin film
materials, structures and devices applied to thermoelectric/thermionic
microcoolers. His outstanding work has been reported in both refereed
journals and conference proceedings. Mr. Xiaofeng Fan is (2001) a graduate student
in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of California
Santa Barbara, USA, and is expected to present his latest results during
ICT2001.

1999 Goldsmid Award
The 1999 Goldsmid Award was presented to Roy
Littleton, currently (1999) a graduate student in Dr. Terry Tritt's group at
Clemson University. Mr. Littleton is conducting research on Exotic
Transport Properties of Transition Metal Pentatellurides. The award was presented
at the Banquet of the 18th International Conference on Thermoelectrics.
