Prof. D. Franck Gascoin
CRISMAT, FranceFranck Gascoin obtained his B.S. of Chemistry from the University of Nantes and his M.S. from the “Institut des Matériaux Jean Rouxel. He received his Ph.D. in Solid State Chemistry from Notre Dame University (Indiana, USA) in 2003 where he work on the discovery of new pnictogen based Zintl Phases under the guidance of Pr. Slavi Sevov. He then joined the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a CALTECH NSF fellow, where he focused on intermetallic thermoelectrics.
He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Caen (France) and conducts his research at the CRISMAT laboratory. His research interests include new polar intermetallics, composites and nanostructured materials, innovative processing of thermoelectric materials (silicides and tellurides) using microwave heating, spark plasma sintering and texturing (SPT), and high energy ball milling.
