C7: Markets
Application of thermoelectric conversion of heat into useful energy is one of the promising areas in increasing energy security. Up to 90% discharged (outgoing) of heat energy is released at industrial facilities and equipment at the surface temperature of 600 K, making a significant contribution in environmental degradation, greenhouse effect.
Overall, the world market for ceramic thermoelectric modules is estimated in 2011 at 38 million units. The market potential is determined by those skilled in the 6.2 billion units. This testifies to the world market filling to within 1%.
Authors of abstracts lead a study of the global market of thermoelectricity. The survey was performed by the method of analysis and direct contacts with manufacturers TE-devices, the research offers online stores. Particular attention was paid to Turkey and Ukraine, as partner countries on SPS NATO joint research project.
Exploratory case study was lead for study of awareness of the existence and the use of TE-devices in the home. Sociological survey was aimed to study the level of awareness and use of TE-instruments in one of the regional centers of Ukraine. It was important to find out the awareness of the population of the region as well as representatives of market segments that are potential consumers of such devices, namely, medicine, hotel business (for TE-introduction of refrigerators and air conditioners), etc. This survey was lead using questionnaires. It was found that respondents, who know about the existence of TE-devices for life, were up to 5%, but the actual use indicated less than 1%. We can aver about the low level of awareness and use TE-devices in the home that the overall trend in the world.
