A2: Medium temperature materials
School of Mechanical Science & Engineering, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, Wuhan, P. R. China
The Ytterbium-filled skutterudite has been long known as a promising bulk thermoelectric material. In this work, we adopted an ex situ melting-milling-hot pressing procedure to prepare nanocomposites that consist of a micrometer-grained Yb0.25Co4Sb12 matrix and well-dispersed Ag2-ySbyTe1+y nanoinclusions on the matrix grain boundaries. Content of Ag2-ySbyTe1+y inclusions was optimized to maximize the thermoelectric figure of merit. The microstructure and thermoelectric properties were subsequently studied and correlated.
