Bi2Te3/nano-SiC composite thermoelectric films were prepared by electrodeposition in nitric acid bath. The effects of SiC concentration, depositing potential and annealing process on the performance of the electrodeposited films were investigated. The Seebeck coefficients, electric resistivity and thermal conductivity were also characterized. The morphology, composition, and structure of the composite films were analyzed by SEM, EDS and XRD. The results show that the existence of SiC nano-particles in the composite films changed the crystal orientation of the eletrodeposited Bi2Te3 matrix and introduced more interfaces in the electrodeposited composite films. In the concentration range of nano-SiC particles less than 2g/L, the seebeck coefficient increased with the addition of nano-SiC particles and it decreased after annealing. The addition of nano-SiC particles increases the interfaces. The increase in the interfaces causes the enhanced carrier density, which decreased the resistivity of the films and the decrease became more significant after annealing.
