The recent submission to the European Union for funding to establish a Thermoelectric Network comprised of 116 participating research groups with more than 436 researchers from 25 European countries attests to the thriving and vigorous state of health of European thermoelectrics. In this presentation a brief introduction to modern European thermoelectrics is followed by an overview of inter-country research collaborations, which focuses on NANOTHERMAL, NAMTEC and SEMI STAND collaborative projects. Finally the potential of future developments in thermoelectrics within the European Union is discussed.
