The world environments are facing serious situation with the use of fossil fuel. Wind power as the most technical mature future energy developed was applied rapidly in the world. In last 10 years, wind power grew rapidly in China. At present, accommodation capability of wind power in Northwest, Northeast and North China tends to be saturated. With the planned integration of large scale of photovoltaic power, it’s urgent to transmit redundant renewable power to other regions’ loads. The main problem of wind power operation is analyzed in this paper. The feasibility of transmitting large scale of renewable power located in Northeast and Northwest to North, East and Central China grid through UHVDC project is systematically researched. Practical calculation method of matched power capacity and scheduling production simulation method are presented, which are based on transmission capacity, typical wind output curve and PV curve. Security and stability calculating process is concluded. Proposed method is proved to be effective by simulating project cases. The study results show that curtailment capacity of wind and PV power will be minimized by optimizing the proportion of wind, PV and thermal power on the basis of power system security and stability. And renewable energy will be developed effectively. There is obvious significance for optimizing structure of power source, improving air quality and achieving the goal of energy conservation and emission reduction.
